As a J-2 visa holder, you’re required to have travel medical insurance that meets the U.S. government's requirements.
This plan provides the coverage you need to meet visa requirements, and COVID-19 expenses are treated the same as any other illness.
You can be covered as a J-2 visa holder, and you can buy coverage for your unmarried children over 14 days of age and under 21 years if they are wholly dependent upon you for maintenance and support.
U.S. residents and citizens are not eligible for this plan.

J Visa Compliance Travel Medical Insurance Benefits
Covers up to 10 travelers.
This is the amount of time you have from the date of your injury or illness to receive treatment. If your plan terminates during your benefit period, You will still be eligible to receive treatment if the Treatment is within your benefit period and outside your home country. Each injury or illness shall receive one benefit period.
If you break your leg on January 1 while on your trip and covered by the plan, you have 180 days from January 1 (until June 30) to receive treatment for your leg. If your plan ends on June 1, you still have until June 30 to receive treatment for your leg if you are outside your home country.

Seven Corners has a 24/7 multilingual team available to help with travel emergencies and general assistance including medical evacuations, escorts for unaccompanied children, medical record transfers and second opinions, and help locating medical care. They can also help provide interpreter referrals, help with passport recovery, hotel and flight re-bookings, and many other services.
*URC means Usual, Reasonable, and Customary. It is the maximum amount we will pay for covered expenses based on several factors. See the definition in the plan document for more details.
** Seven Corners Assist arranges these benefits. Failure to use Seven Corners Assist may result in the denial of benefits. Arrangement of the above benefits are not insurance and are handled by Seven Corners Assist. Crum & Forster SPC provides the insurance benefits.
You can buy the Seven Corners J Visa Compliance Travel Medical Insurance plan online and receive your coverage documents at the end of the purchase process. We will also email them to you, using the email you provide to us.
The travel insurance documents you receive include:
J-2 visa holders and their dependents can be covered by the Seven Corners J Visa Compliance Travel Medical Insurance plan if you are temporarily residing outside your home country.*
Also, the J-1 visa holder must remain engaged in full-time educational or research activities during the time you're covered by this plan. The J-2 visa holder and/or their dependents are eligible as long as the related J-1 visa holder remains in official status.
Dependents include the primary insured person’s spouse and natural or legally adopted unmarried children over 14 days and under 21 years of age. Spouse is your legal spouse, legal domestic partner, or legal civil partner, if not legally separated or divorced, as determined by the applicable governmental jurisdiction where the legal union is sanctioned.
*What is my home country and why do I have to be outside it to be covered?
Your home country is the country where you have your permanent residence.
All travel medical insurance plans require you to be outside your home country to be covered. The J Visa Compliance Travel Medical Insurance plan is no different. You are covered while you are in the United States and if you travel elsewhere.
If you return to your home country, you are not covered.

Coverage Length
You are required to buy a minimum of 5 days and may buy a maximum of 364 days.
Effective Date
This is the start date of your plan. Coverage begins on the later of the following: 1) 12:00 a.m. on the date after we receive your application and correct payment if you buy online; 2) The moment you
depart your home country; or 3) 12:00 a.m. on the date you request on your application.
Expiration Date
This is the date coverage ends on the earlier of the following:

Extending Your Coverage
You can extend coverage as long as you remain eligible for the plan. Eligibility requirements include the J-1 visa holder remaining engaged in full-time educational or research activities
outside their home country.
If you initially buy less than 364 days of coverage, you may buy additional time, from a minimum of 5 days to a total of 1,092 days (three 364-day periods). We will email you an extension notice before your coverage expires, giving you the option to extend your plan. A $5 administrative fee is charged for each extension.
When we receive your payment for the extension, we will extend your plan’s expiration date.
Your original effective date is used to determine determine pre-existing conditions.
The J Visa Compliance Travel Medical Insurance plan is in excess of all other valid and collectible insurance. If at the time of loss there is other valid and collectible insurance, we are liable only for the excess of the amount of loss, over the amount of the other insurance and applicable deductible. Recovery of losses from other parties does not result in a refund of premium paid.
We will refund your payment if we receive your written request for a refund before your effective date of coverage.
If your request is received after your effective date, the unused portion of the plan cost may be refunded minus a $25 cancellation fee, if you have not submitted any claims to Seven Corners.

It’s any medical condition, sickness, injury, illness, disease, mental illness or mental nervous disorder, regardless of the cause, including any congenital, chronic, subsequent, or recurring complications or consequences related thereto or resulting therefrom that existed with reasonable medical certainty when you purchased the plan or any time during the 12 months before the coverage began, whether or not previously manifested, symptomatic, known, diagnosed, treated or disclosed. This specifically includes but is not limited to any medical condition, sickness, injury, illness, disease, mental illness or mental nervous disorder, for which medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment was recommended or received or for which a reasonably prudent person would have sought treatment during the 12-month period immediately preceding the effective date of this plan.
Pre-existing conditions are not excluded from coverage for these benefits: Emergency Medical Evacuation and Repatriation, Emergency Medical Reunion, Return of Child(ren), Return of Mortal Remains, Local Burial or Cremation.
Please be aware this coverage is not a general health insurance plan but an interim, limited benefit period, travel medical plan intended for use while away from your home country.
It is your responsibility to maintain all records regarding travel history and age and provide necessary documents to Seven Corners to verify your eligibility for coverage.
This insurance is not subject to, and does not provide certain insurance benefits required by the United States Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act ("PPACA"). The insurance benefits provided by this policy are stated in Your policy documents and do not include any additional benefits required by the PPACA. The PPACA requires certain U.S. residents and citizens to obtain PPACA compliant insurance coverage. In certain circumstances penalties may be imposed on U.S. residents and citizens who do not maintain PPACA compliant insurance coverage. You should consult Your attorney, insurance agent, or tax professional to determine if the PPACA's requirements are applicable to You.
